IT gadgets creates risks for the industry – New Technology

The trend is transparency. Industrial 4.0 and the smart factory. Integrated systems talking to each other.

For anyone working with automation, this is a new reality, which was discussed during a seminar of the Organization Automation Region.

– Not everyone has an eye on the risks. There is a wide range in terms of awareness, says Kristina Blomqvist at the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency, MSB, which is the program coordinator for safety in industrial information and control systems at the Agency.

Automationssystem, which means that control the physical things, was previously closed systems with special software. Suddenly, everything should be open. Sensors, machines and systems to talk to each other.

– It-world driving development and it is good. But when they come into our automation world, we must be careful about what we put into our systems, says Mr Rosengren, automation expert in Scania and continues:

– We must take the best from the world, but not all, for then we get problems, he said.

IT security must therefore be a part of a strategic work. But it is not always.

– Almost all the factories I work with are completely open, Kennedy says Liam, a systems integrator with private companies .

He points out that many companies miss the security around the building automation, allowing the systems are completely unprotected.

Siemens, who spoke at the seminar, said that there are steps to take. You have to think about security in several different stages and with different barriers. Everything from how the systems are built for not store passwords in the mouse pad.
