Nordea was down – hackers behind – Expressen

From noon on Friday was the bank’s website down due to denial . The attack, known as a DDoS attack means that someone or some call site so many times that it is overloaded and crashes.

On Saturday, the problems have disappeared and Swedbank have been reported to the police assault.

– We have made a police report says Claes Warrén in Swedbank’s press service.

– We conduct some tests now, but everything seems to work as it should.

On Saturday, however, banking rival Nordea suffered technical problems.

– The only thing we know is that we have this problem and we are investigating what caused it, says Petter Larsson, Press Secretary at Nordea.

Later the afternoon went there to get in on the website again.

The hacker demanding money

A person Expressen been CONTACT WITH claim that it is he who is behind the attacks.

“I did it simply because I felt like it. I have power to take down the website I want. Can take a lot more stuff,” writes via Skype.

Now it turns that the hacker places demands on banks. Claes Warrén at Swedbank says that they received a message from the suspected perpetrator shortly before the site was overloaded on Friday. The requirement that the person would not attack them: Money.

– There is someone who has taken on it and that has demanded money. If it is the same person I do not know, says Claes Warren.

The sum is the equivalent to USD 10 000 in the digital currency Bitcoin.



Nordea: No comments

Bitcoin is used to make payments directly between users online, without a third party in the form of a bank.

– We have not had any direct contact. The person has just twittered to us, says Claes Warren.

A possible hacking attack is however nothing Nordea want to comment.

– There is nothing that I have any comments. I have seen this data, but it is nothing that we know, says Petter Larsson Nordea.

Nordea announces that all of their banking services will be closed for four hours on Sunday morning, because of maintenance work.
