Leading thanks to IoT – Build World

Väla Farm has become one of the world’s most energy efficient buildings using IoT.

Every minute is sent information from about 600 sensors to the cloud service to compile the operating information of the property.

 – Ten years ago, nobody thought it was possible to produce a zero-energy Skanska is now done at Väla Farm, says Per-Ola Jönsson, CEO of Skanska Installation.

Väla Farm is located just outside Helsingborg. Väla Farm is owned by Skanska and is today used as a regional office. Väla farm includes several buildings and in 2012 inaugurated the first project covering 1800 m2.

In March 2013, was certified well-farm with LEED Platinum, the highest environmental certification level awarded by the US LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) .

At this certification in 2013 was Väla Farm Europe’s best and the world’s third best houses, according to Skanska.

Today produces Väla Farm yourself its heat and a large part of its electricity. The buildings are covered with solar cells. Skanska indicate that if the excess energy could be stored season, from warm årtider the winter period, it would Väla Farm become completely energy self-sufficient. Methodology under development.

The buildings are equipped with heating and cooling by 22 pieces of drill holes on the property.

Ventilation, heating and cooling are controlled presence.

294 sensors measure carbon dioxide, light and temperature in the buildings. The information collected in the property management system that ensures that energy consumption and the indoor climate is optimal.

Skanska since 2012 using a software from GE to collect and collate operational information, but now trying a more advanced cloud service from GE.

With this solution, information is sent each minute from about 600 sensors to cloud service which enables more advanced IoT services that provide more benefit.

A critical issue for platform providers, service providers and construction companies are on the new IoT products are truly significantly better than the traditional products for energy efficiency.

 – Skanska Installation looks extremely positive about the increased government requirements for energy efficiency. Ten years ago, nobody thought it was possible to produce a zero-energy Skanska is now done at Väla Farm. In Sweden, the state now plans to introduce higher standards in new construction and renovations. These requirements will be a tremendous motivator. Above all, it gives us installers greater market. When IoT is introduced, it is our system to be optimized to meet the new requirements, says Per-Ola Jönsson in Skanska Installation.

Skanska uses Väla farm as a demonstration objects to win new customers for the green house.
