Volkswagen says that the company has agreed with the US authorities on the construction of the vehicles or buy them back, AFP reports. Car giant will offer “substantial compensation” according to the news agency. Offer can apply to as many as 600 000 vehicles, but the move definitely 480 000 cars, writes AFP.

Diesel cars were sold in false premises, because VW manipulated the software in the vehicle to clear US s tough emissions tests. Second, anecdotal evidence indicates that the US customers can be offered a compensation of 5,000 dollars per car.

Volkswagen has so far failed to agree with the authorities of the United States on a solution. But it has in Europe.

– The German equivalent to the Transportation Board has approved an action plan for cars in Europe. We have started to fix cars so that you surely must know that they meet the legal requirements that were asked for nitrogen oxide emissions when tested, says Marcus Thomas People, Communications at Volkswagen in Sweden.

The National Anti-Corruption Unit investigating however, VW has committed serious fraud.

Volkswagen is now said to expect that the total cost of action because of the scandal could be around 100 billion.
