VW boss resigns after scandal – Expressen

Volkswagen has started to address many of the vehicles covered by the diesel scandal .

But despite that growing scandal of several threats of lawsuits and fines.

Now leave VW’s manager in the US, Michael Horn, as a result of the scandal.

Even when the diesel scandal exploded as it was rumored that VW’s US chief Michael Horn was loose. VW was also named Skoda boss Winfried Vahland as head of North America but Vahland resigned after only a few weeks on the job.

And now it’s time for Michael Horn to leave the company. Horn became the VW scandal face in the United States last fall after he repeatedly forced to defend the carmaker’s cheating with emission values.

Lots of lawsuits in the pipeline

The deputy Hinrich Woebcken will receive a tough job piloting VW through lots of lawsuits in the United States. It is also not clear how VW will fix about 600 000 cars still rolling around in the US with faulty software. VW is negotiating with US authorities about how the recall will be done and what should be corrected.

Michael Horn, who worked at VW for over 25 years, has always maintained that the fraud in diesel engines was something that “few individuals “within the VW knew of, and that top managers did not know what was going on.

the dealers in the United States has previously supported Horn and believes that his defection will be a blow to VW in the US. The authorities in the United States has set March 24 as a deadline for VW to come up with proposals for action in the engines to be fixed.

Prosecutors in Europe are watching the case

And it is not only in the United States that the problems are piling up for Volkswagen. Both in Germany and in France, prosecutors look at how the VW cheated.

Volkswagen stated this week that jobs can be endangered if VW is forced to pay large damages worldwide. According to a statement from the CEO Matthias Müller VW will be “suffering financially” when the final bill for the entire scandal is complete.

Last fall the value of VW shares four percent since the reports from the US and Europe on future action against VW flowed in.
