Volkswagen scandal is expected to spread to more automakers – Business World

The software for emission control which Volkswagen has used is not specific only for the German company but the technology may have been used by other automakers. It writes the news and analysis site Euro Intelligence on Tuesday.

– We expect a growing scandal and an economic impact, writes Wolfgang Munchau on Twitter. Munchau manage Euro Intelligence and also a columnist for the Financial Times and Spiegel.

Euro Intelligence believes that the criminal investigation been launched in the US in which Volkswagen is accused of having manipulated the test of diesel emissions have the potential to spread to large parts of the automotive industry.

Volkswagen plummeted nearly 20 percent on Monday and so far today, the stock has continued to fall nearly 5 percent. Concern that the scandal will affect other automakers in Europe have received shares in several other automakers to lose. BMW drops 1.3 percent, Daimler is down 1.2 percent, while the French Peugeot lost 3.3 percent.
