STOCKHOLM (AFX) In the recent showdown between the FBI and Apple, which is about help unlock a terrorist Iphone, now get the FBI support from a well-known voice from IT world. Bill Gates think that technology companies should be required to cooperate with the police in cases involving terrorism.

It writes the Financial Times.

Microsoft founder turns against Apple CEO Tim Cook’s description of government orders as a requirement that a “back door” installed, which could be seen as a long-term courteous.

“this is a specific case where the government is asking for access to information. They are not asking for anything in general but ask in a special case, “said Bill Gates to the Financial Times.

According to Gates, it is no different from cases where telecom operators or banks to disclose information on the police request.

Apple war of words with US police took off in the last week, since a judge ordered the company to create software that makes it possible for the FBI to unlock the iPhone that belongs to Syed Rizwan Farook – one of the shooters in the terrorist attack in San Bernardino in California in December, where 14 people were killed and 22 seriously injured.

Apple CEO Tim Cook has called the request a “chilling” example of the government risks creating a dangerous precedent that threatens civil liberties.

Bill Gates’s position puts him on the opposite side from the majority of the technology industry – Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, Twitter founder Jack Dorsey and Google boss Sundar Pichai, all taken Tim Cook’s party.
