The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency warns of a security hole in Flash that in the worst case can take control of your computer. Then there is a risk that your banking details hijacked. “Usually, you notice it,” says incidenthanteraren Dick Smith.

The security hole affects all current versions of Adobe Flash software that runs on Windows, Linux and Mac. In practice, almost all computer users worldwide at risk of unwanted consequences.

If you happen to click on a malicious Flash application on the web – as a video clip or a game – the computer can fetch down malware, such as a Trojan that takes control of your computer. But it is enough that a user visits a website that is specially rigged to exploit this vulnerability without clicking on anything at all, to suffer.

Until then recommends the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB) to protect themselves by activating the “click to play” in their browser so as to disable Flash. It means that the program does not start automatically when you click on a movie or the like. Another option is to uninstall Flash.

MSBs can not answer how long the security hole has been found, but says that the case of “one time”. It was the first Friday night that it became widely known that the hole was.

The problem is linked to the leaks from the Italian IT and security Hacking Team, who hacked on a huge amount of information. Before that, it was not known that the hole was so shady people could utilize it.

How can you know if you’ve got a trojan installed and someone has taken over your computer?

– The letters are not usually if it is a sophisticated program, it’s scary. If you have an updated antivirus program can potentially find Trojan. Otherwise I have no good answer, says Dick Smith, incidenthanterare the MSB’s cyber security center CC.

What are the consequences if someone takes over your computer?

– It may have many consequences. Often they are looking for even banking information, they can also use the computer to send spam.

How seriously do you view this?
