The municipality failed invoices million – Helsingborgs Dagblad

According to CFO Stefan Christensson, it is simply about the shortcomings in the procedures and systems.

– The municipality changed its billing system in 2012 and the software we purchased then did not measure up. It has not been possible to put personal and it has not worked with reminders. One can say that the programs are not talking to each other, he said.

In addition to this municipality have had difficulty getting in touch with the supplier of the software, as the finance manager says has not done its job. The problems should therefore continue and bills stacked on each other. The error was discovered in connection with the financial statements for 2014.

– Then we had to investigate, build up the procedures so that it does not happen again, and at the same time attend to the daily.

In the last mailing has 1400 reminders expired. These are debts from 2012 and forward in time.

– A total of SEK 1.7 million. Of the 800 customers affected are 100 companies, bankruptcies and estates. SEK 300 000, we have written off. This means that we sent out demands for a total of 1.4 million to 700 households. 70 of them have more than five unpaid invoices. It could certainly also have been wrong in any case, says Stefan Christensson.

The municipality will already have received some money huh collective legacy out with. In some cases, agreements on installment plans made where there is a ‘fairly large amount. “

The reactions have not materialized. Customers have contacted the municipality and been annoyed. The municipality has informed on its website.

– It has been juicy reactions.

Stefan Christensson took over as manager after a period of much trouble in the finance office.

– The procedures need to be strengthened up. Earlier we had a lot of debt collection. It has been quite widespread problem, but it is much better now than two years ago. We have pretty decent order and are working continuously with it, he says.
