The Ruthless older gangs operate in communities around the major roads E6, E20 and E4.

By pretending to be from social services, municipality or flower sellers are they kidding themselves in older people and steal everything of value.

– It is along major routes they can move quickly, says Claes Persson, head of the police Circa Group investigating older crimes.

The gangs acting with lightning speed before move on to the next victim. By pretending to be from, for example, home help, municipality or to be artisans knock on the elderly. When they are released into the dwelling fits to steal everything of value – either by themselves or they have with them a crony who booms home while the older person is maintained by the scammer.

– They change tactics all the time and sadly seems to have a tremendous ingenuity. Last I heard there was someone who claimed to be the flower sellers, says Claes Persson, head of the police Circa Group investigating older crimes.

Crimes of this nature is constantly increasing. Although the right Circa Group is behind the two major leagues right now being investigated for similar offenses occurring new events at regular intervals.

Acting along major roads

It was not long ago that a 90- year old woman in Jönköping let a man she thought would check the water in her apartment. But instead pushed the man into her on the toilet and locked her before stealing her jewelery. Last winter was reported several cases where fraudsters claiming to be from television and telephone companies to help or fix errors.

– I have no statistics in front of me but it has been quite frequent in recent times, we know says Claes Persson.

He believes that the problem exists in all parts of the country. But mainly in southern and central Sweden.

– If there is something that is spared, it is more to the north. It has the distances to do. They act along major routes, this is where the fastest moving, he said.

“very worrying”

The crimes are difficult to investigate, and one reason is precisely that gangs are constantly on the motion. There may also be difficulties in obtaining witness statements – not least when it hit the people who are elderly and for various reasons may be in need of help.

Sven Carlsson is the chairman of the Pensioners’ Association, PRO in Gothenburg, and He says he noticed a concern among members.

– It is very disturbing and sad that it should have to be so in the community. We must take it seriously, he says to P4 Gothenburg.

Older crimes evokes strong emotions and on Friday wrote Glenn Hysén an acclaimed chronicle of the subject. Where he states that: “Giving up on older people who do not have a chance to defend themselves is fucking the lowliest thing to do.”

– It is a fact that there is someone who have a different point of view than just that. Almost everybody has a parent or another older man can relate to, says Claes Persson.
