American environmental authority EPA directed harsh criticism against Volkswagen and says that even 3.0 V6 TDI engine uses illegal software cheating until approved emission values. VW has denied the existence of gas cheating in the V6 TDI but Wednesday came the decision to halt US sales of all models with this engine – which also includes Audi and Porsche.
This weekend featured US Environmental Protection Agency EPA, a new report which tested Volkswagen’s 3.0-liter V6 TDI engine. According to the EPA, it is obvious that the engine has a “test mode” where it temporarily improves exhaust values to the approved level. Shortly after the cycle was over modified engine management and NOx emissions exceeded nine times above the permitted level in the United States.
Volkswagen has so far recognized the exhaust cheating in the four-cylinder EA189 diesel engine – which includes eleven million cars globally – while strenuously denied the illegal control programs in other engines. Last Monday it issued a press release in which the text was: “Volkswagen wants to emphasize that no software is installed in the V6 diesel engines of 3.0 liters for changing emissions in a forbidden way.”
There were however dashed when Volkswagen on Tuesday announced that an additional 800,000 cars have “ambiguities in connection with approval”, ie they do not fulfill the specified emissions standards. Where it also emerged that not only diesel engines are faulty emissions, it also applies to gasoline engines. As a result, the share price plummeted yet again and lost nearly nine percent. Since “diesel gate” began to have Volkswage AG lost nearly € 30 billion in market capitalization.
As a result of the uncertainties surrounding the 3.0-liter V6 TDI decided last Wednesday’s brands – Audi, Porsche and Volkswagen – to stop sales of models with this engine. As previously underlines VW that “to fully cooperate with the authorities to get clarity.”
The popular V6 TDI engine are in the United States in all of Audi’s midsize and large models In the US, the only Porsche Cayenne that uses V6 TDI. For VW’s part is the Touareg concerned. Previously, VW Group halted the sale of four-cylinder diesel models, and now even the V6 deuce stopped, it means that all diesels “on the waiting” for the retailers that investigations should be done and there is an action plan.
According to Marcus Thomas People, CIO of Volkswagen Group Sweden AB, there are no plans to stop selling V6 TDI in some other markets. The action in the US is about a dialogue with the EPA about the warming of the engine after a cold start, something that Volkswagen believes is perfectly legal. Sell stop of 3.0 V6 TDI in the USA is voluntarily decided by Volkswagen AG and temporarily.
Diesel Gate began in at the end of September and a few days ago arrived sales for the month of October USA. Just as in Sweden and most European countries seen no decline in the sales of Volkswagen. Sales in the US were basically still with a decline of 0.24 percent, compared with last year’s October. In the US, they sell the cars’ standing in the yard “and order rarely his car (as in Europe). Diesel Gate ought to have given an impression in the US in October, but that did not happen.

I have always believed that the exhaust cheating VW Group is present in more than one type of engine.
